I came across an artist from Belgium named
Dave Decat. He is featured on
Sixpack France an amazing website that allows artists from all over to sell their artwork on clothing, etc. Decat especially stood out to me because of his style of drawing people. I like how he draws people out of proportion and with a simple, cartoony feel. He also stood out to me because my friend, a fellow young artist in my town, made a stencil a couple years ago of a russian tattooed mobster that looks similar to the characters on the t-shirts. If they weren't so expensive, I would totally buy a couple of these. But sadly, I am still a poor, struggling college student and can only admire them from my computer screen.
Another artist featured on the website is
Justin Krietemeyer from the U.S. He has a really great style and has really bright, colorful, layered pieces. I use lots of layers and images in some of my graphic artwork and his work is very inspirational. I also like his use of symmetry, which I also like to use in some art. He uses mirrored images and layers them which I think works very well.
